Just Say No: How to Refuse with Style

How To Refuse With Style.

1. You have to turn down an invitation

“Thank you for the invitation. I’m sorry I can’t go.”
Just the tell the truth. if you already made plans, say that you would love to see them some other time.

2. You are served food that turns you off.

“No. Thank you.”
While the default is that you sample everything, it’s okay to politely refuse food that you don’t eat. There’s no need to get into details. Make up for it by eating something else, and let them know how great their cooking is.

3. A suitor gives you a gift that is too expensive.

“Thank you, but I’m afraid it’s a bit too much. I can’t accept this.”
Some gifts, especially those from an about-to-be-rejected suitor are inappropriate to accept. Smile and tell them you appreciate the gesture but a gift isn’t necessary.

Well, what to say but the title of the article itself touched my heart. I have been always in a soup when it comes to turning down an invitation from a party when I am busy, when someone asks for help I tend to do it at my own cost and much more. This surely requires self improvement to say no to anyone without hurting. Thanks for the article.
