Keep Smiling

10 reasons to keep smiling through the credit crunch.

If like me, you’ve already had your holidays, it may seem like you’ve got nothing left to look forward to, or work towards, for the rest of the year. With the credit crunch looming over us, prices rising, house sales falling and the general economy in uncertain times, it may seem that 2009 is the only thing to keep us going!

However, I have decided to look on the positive side! It may seem that the year is passing us by and our holidays are over, but we have decided, for your sakes and ours, to give you ten reasons why we should still be smiling right through to the New Year…

  1. Events

There’s plenty going on right across the country, from festivals, to film releases, concert tours and sporting events, whatever your taste everyone will be satisfied this summer!

    • V Festival- 16th & 17th August, Chelmsford & Staffordshire
    • Carling Reading & Leeds Festivals- 22nd- 21st August
    • The X-Factor (plus new series of all your fav shows back for the winter!)
    • Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince
    • Quantum of Solace (Bond)
  2. Sport

Sport is a theme running right through 2008. The Euros Football Tournament may have just finished, but there’s plenty more to come, with Britain even having a good chance of winning something!

    • Olympics
      • League Football
      • Rugby Union/ League
      • Formula One
  3. Holidays

Even if you’ve had your annual summer holidays, don’t be disheartened. There’s much more you can do, from weekends away, to day trips and of course there’s one more Bank Holiday to come in August! So, make the most of it!

  4. Weather

The good old British weather may not be reliable, but it’s definitely turning out better than the washout of last year! Currently we have had one of the hottest days of the year earlier in the year, with temperatures reaching 28Cº! So, lets hope that the great British summer lasts right through!

  5. Health

There’s no better time to get healthy than in the summer/autumn months! It’s mainly dry and pleasant weather, so walking, jogging and outdoor sports are ideal; plus you’ll be much more motivated to look good and feel good in your summer clothing. Food options are also more varied in the summer, with strawberries, salads, and much more fruit and veg in season to get you aiming for your five-a-day!

  6. Weddings

Of course summer wouldn’t be summer without the mention of weddings! We’re sure that most of you know someone or are even going to several weddings this summer, an ideal time to glam-up and enjoy a whole day in the company of friends and family!

  7. Sales

Money may be a worry right now, but sales on the High Street and in the supermarkets will make things a little easier, with price wars going on right across the board! For a quiet night in you can buy a DVD in the sale for £3 and a pack of beer on offer in most supermarkets!

  8. Birthdays

Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius and Capricorn all still have birthdays this year! However, if you are one of the unfortunates don’t despair, as there’s still plenty of other days to look forward to…

  9. National Days

We still have a few great days left this year, including the 26th October, which mean you will gain a whole extra hour in bed! Halloween, Diwali and Bonfire Night as well as…

  10. Christmas

It may seem a long way away but there are only around 20 weeks and a bit to go! So, shopping for Christmas presents now may be a good idea, especially with the sales on!
