Keeping Your Pet Cool on a Hot Day

Instructions for keeping your dog cool when it’s hot outside.

A hot day can be particularly hard for pets especially if you have a pug or any type of bull dog breed. Follow these tips to ensure that your pet stays comfortable even when it’s 100 degrees outside.

  1. If it’s hotter than 80 degrees bring your dog inside. If you have to go to work you can setup a room in the house that’s already dog-proofed.
  2. Don’t leave lights or unnecessary appliances on. Leaving the hall light or living room stereo on just adds to the heat. So turn everything off and go green while you’re at it.
  3. Give your dog a quick bath. There’s nothing better than a quick romp in the tub for a hot doggy. Make sure that water isn’t too cold or it could be a shock to your dog’s system.
  4. Give your dog some ice cubes. Just drop the ice cubes into his bowl and watch him eat them to make sure that he doesn’t chock.
  5. Turn the fan on him. It may take your dog a few minutes to familiarize himself with the feeling of air blowing in his face but it will help him cool down especially if he has a short nose.

Thanks for reading these fun tips and good luck.
