Learn to Believe in Yourself

This is a motivational piece to inspire you to greater height. It is a must you become what God have destined you to be in life.

“I know very well the kind of person I am. I really don’t think I can do this.”

The above answer came from a good friend of mine who asked for my advice. He was so cool with not believing in his ability to exploit his talent in singing and building a career there-from.

First thing that came over me was shock. In these days of fast-tracking to fame and popularity that the music industry has offered the youths of Nigeria, I was filled with shock and confusion. The Nigerian youths are known for their resourcefulness the world-over. I’m not talking about their resourcefulness gone awry and misplaced. I’m talking about the resourcefulness that pushed someone to design and build mobile toilet in this country – that resourcefulness that brings out the best in all of us. There is no limit to anyone’s resourcefulness. You achieve and realize a dream and you go to bed thinking that you have arrived; I can assure you that by the time you wake up, you’ll have a rude awakening when you realize that you and your achievement are no longer the hottest bride around.

People go to bed to think and strategize on how to overtake their competitors every day and night. You have the ability to strategize on how to become the next Best Male Artist in the Nigerian music scene and you must make use of that ability to achieve that. You don’t have to strategize on how to bring the best in the country down by spreading falsehood about that achiever-artist. Your ability will make you to go to the drawing board to figure out the kind of music and the genre that the Nigerian peeps say they find more endearing to them irrespective of age. There is so much money in the Nigerian music industry today. Why not avail yourself the opportunity by figuring out via research what will turn you into a star and a celebrity?

So you can imagine my shock that someone who has something everybody out there is yearning for is suffering under the yoke of self-disbelief. This young man didn’t just doubt himself; he was enmeshed in pessimism and fear of the unknown. I looked at him a lot more closely; he has everything going for him: good looks, height, and the voice. I shook my head in something close to envy and asked him,
