Leaving It All Behind
An introspective article on fleeing a situation.
What happens when you suddenly have to move out of your house? You have to leave everything behind. You can’t even take your cherished possessions with you. Sometimes you are lucky enough to go back and recover a few things. Other times you have to start completely over and build a whole new life. This article is about that.
I never thought it would happen to me. I had prepared for it in the past. By God’s grace, I was being guided because of events unseen in my life. I lived in a glass shell and could see only crystal glimmers of peace. All of a sudden my eyes were opened. I had to get up and leave.
Some of you reading this may have been dislocated by natural disasters like tornadoes or fires. Some may have had to leave a war torn country. I know what it’s like to have to rewrite your own history or to be in the process of it. We are not alone.
I look around for someone to blame. I find a few. What would Jesus do? Is there someone to blame in your life? Did the fire cause it? Can the tornado be charge with wrongdoing? Can a hurricane be handed a subpoena? We pray for all the terrorists to be sent to jail so our country can live in peace. What has happened to our beloved land? Why did I have to leave my house? I was not hurting anybody.
I think about all those left behind who were my friends. Did I desert them? Did I leave them to fight my wars while I am currently and maybe temporarily in peace. Did they understand why I had to leave?
What happens when you start over and you need to build new accounts, new nicknames, new styles and new ways of doing things. You become a stranger to yourself. You are not even you anymore, on account of the folly of someone or something else.
It is a great gift to depend on things that can never leave you. For example, an email address, can be accessed from any computer around the world and is a great idea for those who are in these tricky situations.
Another group of things that can never leave you are your soul, your spirit and the one who created them – GOD. He can never leave or forsake you because He cannot be taken away. To quote from one of my favorite movie, The China Cry, “To do that….you would have to imprison the wind.”
