Living a Flavored Life
Article.
Do you live a flavored live? Or is your life boring, routine, humdrum? I want you to consider this for a moment. Life is meant to be healthy, nourishing, you know…flavored! I’m afraid that for many people it has become nothing more than a piece of dry white bread. But, the good news is, it doesn’t have to be that way. Consider these helpful suggestions as a way of building a life that’s got some spice to it.
First, identify your favorite color and make sure you have samples of it all around to look at. Of course you may have two or three favorites and that’s fine. The point is your soul has a thirst. It has a longing to be cared for and you are the primary caregiver. the eyes as windows to the soul allow supply nourishment and almost everyone feels encouraged, loved and strengthened by certain colors. Do you know what yours are…if not go on a quest. Ask your heart what colors make it feel alive and then consciously let your eyes roam through your environment nature, pictures, magazines, even paint chips…see what you respond to , with a little practice this will become second nature. Some people are born with a heightened sense in this area but the rest of us need to work on it a little bit. If you live in a place full of the beauty of nature this is a little less critical. for those of you in highly urbanized areas I would suggest that it is likely that you are living a color deprived life to the detriment of your soul and internal health.
Second. know what kind of music lifts your spirits. I know this may seem obvious and some of you are totally on top of this. Most people however, aren’t really dialed into the potential of music… aren’t truly aware of how music ministers to our soul. We work, work, work and take little or no time to love the spirit that we have been given. Music not only tames the savage beast…it waters the thirsty land of our heart and quenches the thirsty soul. Music is empowering, energizing, motivating, exciting, calming…. It has a tremendous power and is a gift for life…Use it!
Third, make time for laughter. When was the last time you watched a funny show, read a funny book, or got together with some friends who really make you laugh. You may say, “Well once in a while.” I’m talking about someting different. Many people today are focusing on diets for their bodies; but what about a healthy diet for our souls. Laughter is like a basic food group for the soul. We need generous portions of good old fashioned belly-laughing. Consider where, when and how this is available to you. You might consider putting a healthy joke book in your bathroom…just a thought.
In conclusion…I just want to say that I believe the body is getting a lot of attention these days and rightly so. We want healthy bodies. But let’s not forget the condition of our minds and hearts on a daily basis…Lets become wise and generous caretakers.
