Make Choices That You Won’t Regret

We all make some bad choices in our life. You can’t take them out of your life, but by taking some time, you can sure eliminate a whole lot of them! The method here is called the 6 hats approach to thinking. Basically, you look at any situation from 6 different angles to get the most out of what you are going to do. Just use this approach whenever you reach a situation where you can’t make a decision, to always find a good choice.

The angles are the following:

• White: See what there is to learn from and in this situation. Search for what you don’t know
• Red: See how you feel about this situation, and what do you innately think about it?
• Black: Look for the bad points in the situation and/or plan. Just try and see how it doesn’t work.
• Yellow:Look at the situation positively and see all the benefits in it.
• Green:All you do here is think creatively and play around with ideas.
• Blue: See which of these angles you might need to go to to make your plan work.

By putting these six in conjunction, you can easily solve any situation.

I.E. You want a pay raise, but getting one requires putting a ton of work and effort into it, and you just really don’t know about if it would be a good decision or not.

White:

You can already get the raise, but are lazy, so to get it, you need to stop that.

Red :

“I like my current lifestyle, but really need more money to pay off debt”

Black :

Getting a pay raise isn’t bad, but my act really isn’t together.

Yellow :

I COULD if I wanted to. Also, I need to pay off that debt.

Green:

If I really want to pay off the debt, I can go get a loan. Also, I could just get the raise- it might motivate me into working. Plus, the loan would just get bigger.

Blue :

I probably need to analyze more, and I think I could get more negatives.

Get the point? Just use the White, Red, Black, Yellow, Green, and Blue hats to make sure that any situation is secure for your choice.
