Manifest Your Goals – If You’ve a Mind to

Understand how your conscious and subconscious minds work and you can start to turn all your goals into realities.

Who’s in control, the conscious mind or the subconscious mind?

Good question. Here’s what we know so far…

The conscious mind takes care of deliberate operations of the body during waking hours. It’s what we use to negotiate the many events that happy in our lives every single day. It’s also the basis of most of the decisions we make, including any objectives or goals we set for ourselves.

The subconscious mind, however, is much sneakier. It takes care of all the other stuff, the ideas, emotions, feelings and memories. It works on autopilot, doing its thing without any “conscious” input from us.

But here’s the rub. Everything we do becomes a part of us. We’re programmed from birth to think and act in certain ways. All that stuff becomes part of our experience and part of who we are. But not all of it is good.

And there’s more. The subconscious mind, that part of the brain that works on autopilot, controls around 85% of our brain functions, while the conscious mind deals with the rest – just 15%.

That one statistic alone speaks volumes. It tells us that, in order to make any significant changes in our lives, we have to address the “sleeping partner” or subconscious mind. If we can get at that, then the rest will be easy.

And then there’s the other point, that not all of the things stored in our brains are good things. Much of what we remember and think is negative, and that influences the way we do things. If we don’t think it’s possible to get a new job, we won’t bother trying. If we don’t believe there’s a chance to find our true soul mate, we won’t bother looking.

But here’s where it gets really interesting: take away the negative approach, reprogram the subconscious, and anything can happen.

That’s what manifesting is all about – see the possibilities, give them a positive foundation and take action. And it’s not as complicated as you might think. In fact, here’s a simple 3-step formula that will help you manifest any goal you wish.

Step 1 – Identify a Goal

What would you like to achieve? More money? A better job? Get a book published? Learn to fly a plane?

Anything you’d like to accomplish is a goal. Write down what you think are the most important goals in your life on a piece of paper. Give them substance, something you can look at, feel and identify day after day.

Now pick the one goal you want to achieve right now. For example, maybe you want to get a better job. If that’s true, write it down on a new page.

Step 2 – Eliminate the Obstacles

What stumbling blocks are keeping you from reaching your goal? Write them down in a column next to your goal.

For example, if you want to get a better job, you might need to be better qualified. Perhaps you’ll need to take some tests at work, or go to night school. Or maybe you need to spruce up your resume and apply for better jobs. It doesn’t matter what the obstacles are: just write them all down on your sheet of paper.

Step 3 – Go Get It

Once you know what you want to achieve, and you know what the obstacles are, then you’re ready to spring into action.

Tackle one obstacle at a time and, once that’s eliminated, scratch it off the sheet of paper. For example, if you need to take a course at work, scratch that off as soon as you’ve done it. The next step might be applying for an upgraded position. Again, scratch that off the list as soon as you’ve achieved it.

What will happen is this: your conscious mind does the list making, “telling” your subconscious what goal you want to reach. Then your subconscious works with your conscious to make sure you do reach it. It’s almost like magic, don’t you think?

As the days go by you’ll see all the obstacles on your list wiped away, until there simply aren’t any left. Then, you can move on to the next goal on your original list, and the next, and so on.

There really are no limits to what you can achieve, if you put your mind into it.
