Martial Arts: They Could Save Your Life
The importance of being able to defend yourself in our world today.
Imagine this:
You step outside of your door one morning, and start stretching before you go jogging. A few seconds after you start stretching, someone covers your mouth with their hand and puts you in a headlock. What do you do? You can’t scream, and you slowly start to black out from lack of air.
Yes, sadly, this has been a scenario for many Americans, especially females. With the shape out economy is in and the way the world is going, people are getting desperate. They are more willing to do harm to other and risk getting caught to gain something for themselves. You can hardly ever turn on the news or read the papers and online news sites without hearing about a robbed store, a murder or arson.
However, you can prepare yourself for situation like this by taking martial arts. There are money forms of martial arts, and I myself take Tae-Know-Do. You can many self defense techniques such as how to escape from a headlock to how to counter act with a air and blood choke. And in my academy, we learn how to fight on the ground as well as with what we have around us such as a broom stick, and even how to get a gun away from them even is they have the “drop on you.” Remember, your goal is to escape from your enemy, not to kill them! However you should harm them if that is what it takes to get away.
But for advice, if you don’t know what to do and they are threatening you with a gun or knife, just give them what they want. So I encourage you to find a martial arts academy near you. Judo tends to be more ground fighting oriented, and karate mostly hands. I have found that Tae-Kwon-Do has both and more such as sparring as sword fighting.
So next time you step outside of your house, you will be a lot safer than you were.
