Organizing Your Writing Day to Increase Productivity

One of the main keys to being a productive writer is to be organized.

Preparation is the key to being successful at anything and it is no different with writing. A key component to that preparation is organization.

Everyone who has enjoyed success on any level will tell you one the essential things that made them successful was being organized.

Trying to conduct business in any arena without organization is an exercise in frustration. I have seen people who do not bother to put together an organized plan of approach to what they were trying do and saw them waste countless hours accomplishing very little.

Organization is the key to putting yourself in a position to be the most productive writer that you can be.

Here are a few suggestions to help you out:

  • sign in to all email accounts–I do this so that when I go to share my content on the various book marking and web posting sites I don’t have to sign in every time I visit one. If you are not book marking and sharing your content shame on you.
  • sign in to all content writing sites–I do this because I often switch between the sites when I finish writing an article on another site to check my traffic or comments that I might have gotten while I was writing. If you are only writing on one site, again, shame on you. You should be signed up to write on as many sites as you can handle to maximize your exposure and earning potential. I’ll write an article about some of my favorite sites at some time in the future.
  • check earnings and performance—as I am signing into the various sites that I write on I check my earnings and performance while I am there. I look at my traffic reports and see which articles are performing well and which ones are not. If a particular article is not doing well I may decide to put it on another site, if that site accepts content that has previously published.
  • promote recently published articles—again, while I am on the various writing sites I promote (bookmark and post) any articles that have been recently approved to be published. I say again, if you are not promoting your articles via book marking and posting shame on you. The more you expose your work the more page views you are likely to get.
  • begin to write—after I have done all this other happiness I am now ready to write. Depending on how I feel I may write six to eight articles or I might write two or three. The key is to write something. If you are suffering with writer’s block you need to read my article on that particular ailment. The link is below along with some other stuff that might help you.

When I am done writing, I try to do something relaxing and not related to writing but that is hard to do especially if I am around the house. I usually end up doing something that is writing related like reading the newspaper or watching television.

I watch CNN religiously and get a lot of ideas from there.

Sometimes I cruise the internet reading other blogs and posting. You can learn a lot from seeing what other writers are doing and writing about.

Well, that’s all I’ve got for now. It’s been another long day and it’s time for me to retire.
