Put Yourself in My Shoes
Thinking About How Someone Else Feel.
According to Tony Buzan , the mastermind of mind mapping , the world civilization is moving toward “ The Age of Intelligence” and “ the century of the Brain” era ( international Conference on Thinking, 2009). The 21st Century has seen intelligence experts such as Howard Gardner categorizing people for having many types of intelligence. This at least should shed us some light into the idea that each and everyone of us is good at something.
In any organization, interpersonal or social intelligence are the paramount important since human beings are believed to be social living things. Factor that differentiates human beings and other living things in this world is the brain. Our brain are made to think both consciously and unconsciously. As thinking is a mental process initiated by the brain, a formal definition of thinking will be:
Any mental activity that helps to solve a problem, makes decision, or fulfills a desire to understand, it is a searching for answers, a reaching for meaning.
Thinking can be result of two sources; the mind and the heart. Most of us rely on our mind to do the thinking. We occasionally forget that the heart is also the main element in expressing thoughts. ‘ If it feels good , just do it!” and “ get in touch with your feelings” are the phrases to describe thinking from the heart.” put yourself in my shoes” is another thinking that describes empathy. Empathy is the under-standing and compassion of other people misfortunes or problems. If we can relate how others feels by imagining being them, then we have successfully thinking with our heart. A reality TV program such as BERSAMAMU displayed people hardship in order to gain audience sympathy which eventually will incite our emotions toward empathy. Empathy requires a lot of practice in listening skills.
