Questions to Ask to Avoid Being Scammed
For whatever reason more and more people are turning to the internet to try and make money. Don’t be the one who gets scammed by asking these important questions.
Next you’re going to want to as “How often are commission checks paid?” Everyone wants to know when and how they are going to be paid.
The next question is “Do I have to earn a certain amount of money before I am paid?” Some opportunities want you to earn a certain amount before they will send you your money. Google Adsense, for one, you have to earn $100.00 before they will send you a payment.
Your next question should be “Do you charge a check processing fee?” Some place charge between $10.00 and $25.00 to issue your check. You need to decide if this is worth it.
The next question, if it is a MLM opportunity is “Who is my immediate upline, and can I expect them to help me?” The answer here is a little tricky. It depends on who your upline is, some will help you while others can’t be bothered.
Your next question should be “Do you offer training materials?” If they don’t offer any training do you have enough knowledge to be successful on your own.
Next question “Do you offer leads or other marketing materials?” If they don’t offer you the tools to be successful you need to decide if they just want your money.
Your next question is “How long has your company been in business?” If the company hasn’t been around very long it doesn’t mean it’s a scam, but it also isn’t a proven success yet.
Your next question “Where is the business headquarters located?” You are going to want a physical address not a post office box. Many companies have post office boxes to deal with the volume of mail they get. This should not prevent them from giving you an actual street address. Go to Google Maps or MapQuest and make sure the address actually exists. With Google Maps you can go to street view, where it’s available, to see what their place of business looks like.
Once your questions have been answered to your satisfaction go to the Better Business Bureau’s website, www.bbb.org, and see if there have been any complaints made against them. Search using the name, the website, all the phone numbers and fax numbers you have for them, as well as the address, and any of the names of staff that were mentioned. Even if the company has the BBB logo on their website you still need to check them out. Scammers and con artists don’t have a problem putting the logo on their website to give people a false sense of security.
