Reducing Stress The Simple Way
Want to reduce stress without costing you a lot of time or a fortune? Make the time to take a nice leisurely bath!
We all know that what I’m about to say is true. In fact, I daresay nobody can even attempt to disprove this, but why would you? So here goes: taking a leisurely bath can be the difference between going over the edge and renewing your spirit.
Now, the rushed mothers out there, this tip is for you. You, more than others, deserve it. But you can’t always find the time away to actually enjoy a nice long bath. Here’s my advice: if you find yourself right at the outer edges of your sanity (I know, you live there and only come back once in a while to let us all know what a great job you’re doing), you need to splurge with your time for an hour – one whole hour – just to dive into the tub and let it all go. You know I’m right, and you know precisely how it feels but you can’t quite manage the time.
- Take it after all the kids are in bed. Have your husband or one of the older kids look out for the younger. Close the door and let the hot bath water soak all your stressed out joints and muscles.
- Take it before everyone gets up in the morning. Nobody’s up so you have to sneak in the bathroom and let the water run. You may not make it a full hour before the kids start to get up and you need to tend to them, but you can at least take 20 or 30 minutes.
- If all else fails, hire a sitter for an hour or two. Of course if you take this option, the kids will know where you are and you won’t get a moment of peace.
- Perhaps you can negotiate with another stressed out mother to have an kid exchange. You take hers while she soaks, and she takes yours while you enjoy a hot refreshing soak. If you go this route, you will enjoy her all the more when you do get a chance to chat without the kids.
There are ways to break away and you have to find it. But you must find those ways.
