Goal are steps you complete to fulfill a vision. Goals that are SMARTER will lead you in the direction you want to go.

There are two types of goals: a short-term goal and a long-term goal. A short-term goal is a goal that one can reach in a short period of time (days or weeks). A long-term goal is a goal that takes an extended period of time (months or years).
We can set smarter goals by using the acronym: SMARTER.
Specific- What exactly is involved in this goal? How is the goal specific?
Measurable- You need a way to measure your goal so that you know when you have completed it. Can you prove you have achieved it?
Attainable- You should be able to see how you can reach your goal. What will need to be done to reach the goal? What sacrifices will you have to make?
Relevant/Realistic- If the goal is not connected to reaching your vision, why are you doing it? Is it realistic for you to achieve this goal?
Timely- When is the deadline?
Enlist support- Tell others about your goal. How can they help you?
Reevaluate- Was the goal too hard or too easy? Did you sell yourself short? What would you do differently next time?
Well written goals do not use the following words:
- Good
- Less
- More
- Some
- Better
- Lots
Make sure your goals are your own and not someone else’s.
Set a goal because it will help you grow, not because you want to outdo someone.
If you do not achieve your goal, use what you’ve learned to set a new goal.
