Setting Goals for Yourself
Setting goals is one of the most important parts of living; and I say this because without some real goals we tend to roam about not really knowing what it is we are looking for.
We spend a lifetime setting goals, whether we do consciously or unconsciously; and yet they are never truly defined.
When I ask someone what are their goals, I want to know what their goal is? How do they intend to achieve their goal? Occasionally I may even ask them to set a date, but not always, because sometimes this may cause the individual too much stress. Too much stress can interfere with a person’s ability to obtain their goal.
I encourage parents to teach their children to set goals, but that is very difficult when there are too many people involved first there is you, your spouse and the child. I did not say to give up though, talk to them about setting simple goals, so that over time they will start with small goals with your help and in time they will be able to set larger goals on their own.
As a child, myself I never knew anything about setting goals, such as saving money for a particular item, or reading a certain amount of books over holiday breaks; I learned about setting goals by attending business seminars. At these seminars they constantly speak about setting goals and prioritizing them, the speakers are all business owners who will state that without setting concrete goals, and remaining flexible, nothing will ever get done.
Today, I set goals for a lot of things, I try to write them down and look them over at the end of the day, for my short-term goals, and weekly/monthly for the long-term goals. Listing your goals is a very important step in achieving them, because you see it on paper, you can add ideas and thoughts, and eventually you will see results.
Most people say they are going to lose weight, go to church more, work at keeping the house neater, but with out a plan, most of us will fail. Going to church is probably the easiest goal to obtain, it just requires getting out of bed and going; but if your heart or your spirituality in not there; then for you to achieve this goal, you have to find your faith. Now this was a simple example how you could set a goal, make a list of why you want to go to church, figure out why you fail to go, and then seek a solution.
The reason for this article has nothing to do with going to church, but I personally know without the strength and ideas that I have been given, the goal I had set would not have happened. If you are reading this, then you are probably a writer of Triond.com, and then you know how the system works. In the beginning I had no idea, in two months I had gained enough knowledge to set a small goal, for each month. That goal was to make even just a penny more than I did the month before, so far I have kept to that goal, and I am sure there will be months that I may just slide right down to my earlier numbers.

Well at the beginning of September, as things started moving along nicely, I set my goal just a little bit higher, and that was to make not a penny more, but at least a dollar more than I made in August; and to my surprise, I did it. I set this goal, made a list of things that interested me, read more articles of other writers, and then this afternoon when I checked my numbers, “My Goal” had been achieved, the excitement inside my heart was overwhelming. I had done it, just by setting a few goals for myself.

I think this is great advice. Congratulations on making your goal here at Triond! I agree that we should set goals for ourselves. It will help us accomplish what we want to get done and we will feel so good once the goal is achieved.
