Simple Ways to Relieve Stress

Many Americans today are experiencing hard times which is causing a build up of stress. There are ways to reduce this stress without using medicine.

Many Americans today are facing problems that seem to have no solution. With the foreclosure rates and the countless numbers of jobs that are being lost it is hard not to stress out. For years people have been turning to medicine to cope with the stress, but sometimes the medicine can cause other problems. I have some simple soothing activities to combat the stress that you should all try.

The first relaxing thing you can do is take a warm bath. Turn off the lights and light up your favorite fruit scented candles. It also helps if you put on some of your favorite music. Lay back into the warm water and relax every muscle in your body. Make sure your cell phone is turned off so you can avoid any interuptions. This simple warm bath will not only make it easier to go to sleep, but it will also calm you down until your stress is decreased.

The second task you can do to relieve stress is exercise. Wait until the evening when the weather is cool and go for a short jog. While jogging you are not only burning calories but you are also burning off the stress and tension in your muscles. It is also better if you jog while listening to your favorite music. You can also join a yoga or aerobics class to keep your stress down on a consistant basis.

The third most relaxing thing to do is one of my favorites. Most of our childhood memories are good ones so you can try to remember all of the things you loved as a child. Remember what you loved to eat, watch, and do. The next step is simple, go collect all of your favorite childhood comfort foods and rent your most beloved movies and have a movie night with yourself. You have a chance to be a kid again for one night. Doing this should eliminate your stress and take you back to a happy time in your life.

Though your problems may not be easily solved, there are many ways to manage your stress. Everybody is not the same so some of these suggestions may not be what works for you. Other ways to relieve stress are to read a book, listen to music, cook, or discover a new hobby for yourself. What ever it is that you do just stay active and instead of stressing out about what you do not have, you should try to explore what you do have.
