Six Benefits of Rising Early
Some thoughts on the advantages of waking up early in the morning.
Some people work best at night. If that works for you, stick to it by all means. But I will try to show here that there are several benefits that come from rising early.
- Watching the sunrise - No matter what time you go to bed at night, it can be really difficult to get yourself out of that comfortable bed and those cozy sheets. However, once you get over the initial difficulty and establish a routine, you will love the feeling of watching the sun rise. Waking up this way will really help you gather your thoughts and focus on the day ahead.
- Getting a head start - When you wake up early, you almost feel as if you have a head start on the rest of the world – an extra couple of hours that you have over everyone else. It is a feeling that will motivate you to make the best of the day.
- Even if you are a perfectly happy night owl, you can not deny there are somethings in life, such as showing up for work, or dropping the kids of at school, that can only be done early in the morning. As an early riser you will never have to be late for work and you could even squeeze in an errand or two before the start of your regular day.
- Peace and quiet – For peace and quite, you can’t beat the first few hours of the day. Sure, you get peace and quiet during the middle of the night, but it is more of an eerie and disturbing silence, rather than the refreshing quietude of early morning. If you take an early morning walk, you will feel even better about your day.
- Breakfast – Most late risers have so little time for breakfast, that they either rush a quick bite or skip the meal altogether. They end up so hungry by lunch time that they overeat. When you become an early riser, you will finally have the time for a real breakfast, had in a leisurely and relaxed manner.
- Exercise – I know a lot of people who like to hit the gym right after work. But the fact is, they are often held up at work and have to cancel the workout. If you are an early riser and have a morning exercise routine, you will have virtually no excuse to skip it.
