Six Ways to a Happier You

Simple ideas or thoughts to put happiness in your life.

Everyone is almost always in some type of crisis whether it is financial, emotional, spiritual and so on. Not everything can be fixed with the twitch of a nose or the snap of a finger, but there are some things that can be soothed with minimal change.

Friends

Not many are needed but the few you may have play an important role in how well we can rebound from let’s say, a broken heart, a hangover or a bad haircut. Make nice with your cranky neighbor or choose some new ones and do them both wisely. “True friendship is the only concrete that can hold the world together”.

Work

I believe to keep equal happiness in your life you must do something you love and if possible, get paid for it. If that job at the sewer treatment plant leaves a bad taste in your mouth, change jobs. One true fact about the employment each of us has is we choose to be there, no one forces us to.

Pets

I believe pet owners are by far happier than people who do not have them. Who else is going to greet you at the door after you been gone for only five minutes with the enthusiasm as if it’s the first time they’ve seen you in 7 years? Or, not grumble because you feed them leftovers every day?

Wine

Tempered waves of red or in certain instances white can wash away your fears, hurts or sadness. True, the effects are not permanent and issues may still be there in the morning but what price can you put on a temporary peace of mind?

Prayer

A mustard seed of faith, right? It only takes a moment to say a small prayer for the things you are thankful for and to ask for the encouragement, forgiveness or help you need. Believe in who you are praying too, and be patient for the answers you seek.

And finally…

Be Good To Yourself

Obviously this is much harder than it seems. All to often we short change ourselves for the comfort of others. Stand up for yourself, take time for yourself, and love yourself.

All this is wonderful but the last part about being good to yourself I believe to be the best. So many people forget to take time for themselves and really need to reintroduce themselves to the person inside. A lovely read. Michael

    Very nice article.

I really like this quote: “True friendship is the only concrete that can hold the world together”.

It will stay with me forever.

    Blessings.

    Sincerely,

I agree about the animals, though I don’t have a great deal of luck keeping them. The last kitten I owned was run down by a milk float and died instantly; and I’m still left wondering if it was after some milk at the time. Good article.

Good article, and all you said are true, but sometimes very hard to do.

    Nice article.
Would be nicer if you learned to spell to.
Quite irritating to see it spelled too all the time.
That \”too\” is out of context.
    Very good, otherwise.
