Stress has been the common reason behind poor performance in our daily activities. It has the capacity to reduce the optimum organ functions especially the brain. According to medical studies, 90% of the identified human illnesses were primarily caused by stress. And a lot of lives were changed because many don’t know how to deal with it; hence, these suggestions: practical stress management for our day to day life.

  1. Be in control of the situations around you. A lot of people got stressed because they allowed circumstances to control them. Take note always that these stressors should not dictate your mode, reactions or even decisions. You should be consistent enough. Have your feet firmly established on the ground, as wise men said. Otherwise, you would end up in disarray, building more stress within. Concerns and circumstances in our lives have their own respective schedules. Avoid being stressed!
  2. Establish priorities in life. Wrong decisions were made because of wrong priorities. It is suggested that a calendar of priorities must be set-up. With this, you would have the proper tracking of your day to day plans and activities, thereby, minimizing if not avoiding stress. Everything must be in its right time and place. Don’t be in a hurry always.
  3. If possible try to avoid stress-laden individuals. According to studies, each individual projects a different  energy level, either negative or positive. Negative energy transcends when we are in stress, anxiety or in deep problem. While positive energy projects happiness, encouragement or glow in life.  Associating with stressed-laden individuals is highly contaminating. Minimize your contact with these persons to avoid more stress. They are vexations to the spirit.
  4. Maintain a stress- free lifestyle. Daily exercise is highly suggested for aging fellows. Exercise delays aging, promotes new vitality and positive outlook in life.  We release a lot of negative energy within during constant body movements and sweating. Start slowly if you are not used to it. Cherish the value of laughter as the best medicine.
  5. When at home, prepare a bowl of  lukewarm water  and place your feet in it, enough to withstand the temperature, for about 15 minutes. It would be better if you can be  on setting position while doing the chores to better relax the body. Submerging your feet into a lukewarm water opens the pores in your skin and thereby gradually releases the stress. This technique has been practiced among Eastern countries as a therapy for various human illness. A lot of body organs are interconnected with the nerves located in our feet.
  6. Listening to soft music can lighten your soul. Music has been proven to have the aromatic effects in setting our modes and controls our temperaments. Listening to instrumental music is recommended before sleeping or during relaxation at home.
  7. Try to observe a short cat nap. The body needs sleep to refuel it from lost energy. As somebody said, ” No day is so bad it can’t be fixed with a nap”. You can lessen the impact of stress if you practice correct pattern of sleeping. Bear it mind, it is not length but the quality of sleeping habit that matters.
  8. PRAYER .I considered this as the most effective weapon against stress. A lot of our negative emotions are being absorbed when we are in prayer. Prayer gives as the assurance we need and strengthen our shaky spirit.  Prayer gives us hope and changes our outlook in life.
