Tapping Your Inner Strength

We lead fast-paced, stressed out, stretched thin, highly caffeinated lives. How can we feel like we have some energy to feel like we can tackle the day?

I won’t start by preaching that the best way to replenish your energy levels is by getting a nice, restful night of sweet dreams.  Okay, I just did.  But I won’t drill it in your head.  Truth is, with all we need to achieve in any given day, sometimes we steal time from sleep time and before we know it we are constantly tired and sometimes even in pain from too much going and not much stopping.  We all have some sort of caffeine ritual in the morning, which sometimes gets repeated again in the afternoon, just to get that one more task crossed off the list or to try to get ahead by sneaking tomorrow’s errands and chores into today’s schedule.

Yep, we like to think that we are master controllers of time and efficiency experts all into one.  Truth is that we can continue trying to fool ourselves into being able to do multiple things at the same time, or accept the truth that we have limitations, and with these come task limits as well.  Sure, I can babble all I want.  You will continue to do 35 things instead of 7, as long as the caffeine keeps coming.  So, here’s one more task for you to add to your daily dance.

When you wake up in the morning, somewhere in your routine, include 5 minutes to tap your inner strength. 

Just for 2 minutes, get comfortable, close your eyes, take a slow deep breath in, and slowly exhale… breath in… exhale…  Now, turn your focus inwards, and I want you to keep concentrating on your breath for a couple more inhalations.

Now, imagine a color that starts to emanate from within your belly.  Imagine it filling every nook and cranny of your body and mind.  This color is intense, and it is your inner strength.   Now, visualize yourself having the strength you need to go through your day.  Continue breathing.  Then, slowly start gathering your bearings.  You have tapped into your inner strength.
