The Importance of Celebration

Celebrate your high points to help get you through the low points.

It had always been very easy for me to lose any weight that I had put on. That was until I decided to have my daughter. Something about that baby fat just stuck with me for the longest time. After my daughter’s first birthday this summer I took a really long look in the mirror and decided that 1 year was long enough (too long!!) for me to be carrying around this dead weight. So I set out on all types of missions to get rid of the flab. Through a lot of trial and error (some of which I’ve already shared with you all and much more to come) I’ve found a few things that always work, some things that work for some, and a truck load of pure lies that work for no one.

One thing that has kept me on the road to success (11 pounds and counting people!!) is being able to see results and the feeling that I get from that. It was hard those first few weeks when the scale didn’t move and my clothes still hugged every roll, but I stuck in there and when I did see that scale tip just a little to the left something inside of me changed. At that point I wanted nothing more than MORE. I worked harder, and ate better all because I knew that it was worth it. I felt that it was worth it and I knew that I could do it. Now for every five pounds I lose I buy myself something that I really want but wouldn’t normally get for whatever reason. Why? Simply because I’ve earned it. All my hard work pays off in more ways than one . . . And that, my friends, is what keeps me going. Don’t be afraid to celebrate your progress. Trust me when I say, it takes more than an alarm clock to get me up and moving some days. Enjoy yourself and celebrate yourself, because you deserve it! Until next week, take care.
