The Top Five Ways to Give Your Brain a Workout

by Mystify in Advice, May 13, 2009

This article informs you how to make your brain stronger and smarter and the reasons why….

Your brain works the same way as the muscles in your body do, it needs to be worked on in order for it to stay fit and the harder you work it, the stronger it becomes. Sticking with the same routine doesn’t make anyone smarter or stronger, and when comparing it to exercise, when most people exercise, a different routine is undertaken on each part of the body in order for it to become developed. Your brain also needs this in order to become stronger and more developed.

Scientifically, the older you get the more important exercising your brain becomes because it stops deterioration that results from aging and with certain brain activities it stops the brain from aging quickly. Medically it certainly is not a cure for diseases such as Alzheimer’s and dementia but it does slow the process down.

If you want your brain to be in tip top shape and you want to develop it to become smarter then try the five ways below, you never do know until you try….

1.Read- Read challenging books, articles and journals. Read something entirely different then what you would normally read. Always learning something new will not only make you smarter but it keeps your brain working.

2.Play brain games- Trivia, chess, scrabble, crosswords, sudoku and word searches will all get your brain working harder. Over time you will become quicker and smarter.

3.Eat memory foods- Foods such as fruits, vegetables and grains are full of memory boosting antioxidants. Herbs such as rosemary and sage will increase the blood flow to the brain encouraging your mind and body to function better together.

4.Physical exercise- Exercising increases the blood flow to the brain keeping it kicking, inactivity is directly connected to an inactive mind.

5.Writing- This can be in the form of lists, projects, stories or just about anything. Writing reinforces thought and thought reinforces the brain.
