Things to Do to Teach Your Child to be a Responsible Citizen

While you go for a walk with your child, watch t.v. or read with your child make it a point to talk about your child’s point of view, what are they thinking or feeling? Teach them the importance of caring for others like the elderly or someone who is handicapped or sick. Teach them also that they should try to give the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they really didn’t mean to do something. 

Always try to be a model of honest relations with others. Talk to your child what is means to be honest doesn’t mean its okay to say something hurtful that you observe about them. Let your child know that it is good to be kind. Let your child know that their goals should be attainable. Building a childs sense of competence and no matter how small their success is it is important. Teach your child to think before acting. Encourage your child to think about the consequences of their decisions. When there is a problem with a rule, come up with ways that having that rule is beneficial to have.
