Three Simple Ways to Feel Refreshed any Time of Day
Here are three things you can do to feel better brighter and more vibrant in five minutes.
Life is Hectic! We all need to take a break and take care of ourselves. Here are three things you can do in five minutes or less that will help you feel better, relax, refresh and regroup almost anywhere.
Breath. All of our energy comes from the air we breath. How we breath affects how we feel. It’s easy to get groggy sitting over a desk because as we focus on our work we are either apt to relax into it and slouch or lean over it and tense up. Check it out for yourself. Pay attention to your body the next time you are absorbed in your work over a computer or a table or desk. Are you a sloucher or a leaner? Either way, the muscles in you diaphragm are probably constricted. So here is what yo can do about it. Fist Stretch. and count slowly to five. Then sit comfortably and place one hand on your stomach. Now breath in so you feel the air in the lower part of your lap. Once you’re there, let your breath out slowly and when you feel you’ve completely emptied your lungs take in a breath slowly and completely until you feel it in your belly.Do this five times and you are bound to feel more energized and refreshed
Flex. You can do this while sitting in your office, at home, or are traveling on a bus, plane or on the subway. Take five minutes and use small motions to bring your attention to relaxing your muscles. Start at your feet and squish your toes around. Take off your shoes if you can, but if not, wiggle them around inside your shoes. Next go to your ankles and rotate them slowly. Now, raise up your heels and then bring them down flat on the surface beneath them. This stretches your calves. Next, with your feet flat on the floor, tighten your thighs and buttocks, then relax them. Move up to your lower midsection and tighten your pelvic area, then release and move up to your diaphragm and do the same thing. When you arrive at your shoulders, raise them up and towards your ears and then lower them gently. Next, close your fingers and make relaxed fists. Stretch your wrists and lower arms by curling your hands towards the inside of your arm and then spreading your fingers and as you bend your wrists back as far as they comfortably will go.
Splash. This is the quickest trick of all. Go to washroom. Run the water until is it cool and put your face over the sink. Just breath in the refreshing, cool air the water is producing a few times. This will be refreshing in itself becasue the water is releasing negative ions into the atmosphere. Then cup your palms and splach your face a few times. This will make you feel better and it will improve the circulation in your face, so you will look brighter too!
