Key loggers secretly record your key strokes on a computer. If you access your bank accounts in an internet café, the username and password you type in may be copied without your knowledge. Here are some preventive measures you can take:
- Avoid using public computers when performing bank transactions online. Use your own computer.
- If you must use public computers, change your password regularly so old passwords can’t be use.
- Do not use your birth date for a password.
Some banks have updated their online banking websites. Instead of using your keyboard to punch in the numbers, you click on an on-screen keypad, making it difficult for key loggers to record your PIN.

I only use my own computer for banking, and I do change that password often, too many key loggers and hackers out there.
