Timing the Seasons of Your Life
“To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven” Ecclesiastes 3:1.

Most of the time opportunities come our way but we waste them because we have not prepared ourselves to utilize them. We worry about things we want to do but cannot instead of doing things we can do. We forget that success is not a destination but a way of travelling. To ensure that you get the desires of your life, you must understand that everything happens in seasons and you must understand the seasons of your life and use them wisely. In his book “Timing is everything” Denis Waitely suggests certain principles that are important in timing your life.
Principles to consider in timing your Life:
- View your success from the long view of time- Success is the collection of your memories; the employment and enjoyment of your present moments and the anticipation of the coming season.
- View your failures from the short view of time- Failure is delay, not defeat. Choose to use your failure as the fertilizer of your success. In other words, use you errors and mistakes as a way to learn and then dismiss those errors and mistakes form your mind. The meaning of any failure or any success depends on how we take it and what we make of it.
- Dreams and goals must be chattered in time to be realized- A dream is the creative vision for your life in the future. It is what you would like to become. Successful people believe in their dreams even if dreams are all they have to go on. They shape their dreams into specific goals and action plans. They know where they are headed and further project dreams and goals into time. They work their plan exerting effort, and persevere while adapting to each change until their goals are reached.
- Your purpose in life will determine how you choose to segment and prioritize your time- Purpose is the engine that powers our lives. Without it we toil in a job but never build a career. The success of an effort depends not so much on the outcome of the effort but on the motive for making the effort in the first place. Truly successful people seek to contribute not to receive.
- Your sense of responsibility and your integrity keep you concerned with time – A person of integrity does not blame others for his failures and neither does he expect others to provide for his success. Every choice has a corresponding reward or consequences based on the integrity of that choice.
- Perseverance maintains you through the passing of time- Perseverance is sticking with it when the odds stack up against you. It is very often taking the road least travelled by your friends and peers. Patience cautions us to focus our efforts on what we can change and accept what we cannot. As long as we are persistent in our pursuit of our deepest destiny, we will continue to grow.

Another great article Wanjiku. As Robert Frost wrote “In the road not taken.” He took the road less travelled and that made all the difference. Take Care
