Tips to Live Right – Plan, Save and Eat Healthy
Saving money while still eating healthy….

1.Eat at home
Besides being cost effective, eating at home is healthier for you. Being in control in the kitchen mean healthier ingredients, portion control and much needed family time! Try making meals that will last the family for a couple of days – lasagna or different curry’s with rice or wheat bread are always a good choice! So come on and start making your shopping list
2.Make a list
Take time out on weekend to plan menus for the week. Get the family involved, let them suggest meal ideas also check out your favourite food channel or website for healthy meal options. Your shopping experience will be relaxed and organised, and you will thank yourself later!
3.Prices & Nutrition
Don’t just look at the total cost of an item. The per unit measure is the most important indicator of value. When choosing between two comparable items, select the one with the lowest per unit cost, for example, the per-ounce cost. Also, it is important to look at the nutritional information. Let that be the determining factor when selecting products.
4.Main Attraction
Choose a day or two each week to prepare a meatless meal and make grains and vegetables the main focus on your dinner plate. And if you are a veggie try on some new soups like minestrone, tomato, sweet corn. Try a healthy plate of beans and rice or whole grain pasta with grilled vegetables. Not only are they healthy for you, they are extremly cost-conscious solution.
5. Buy in Bulk…when it makes sense
Purchase bulk items that you will use day to day or that your family will use often enough that they won’t spoil or become outdated. buying in bulk can save on gas..less trips to the store!
6.In-store products
Check the store circular to see what’s on special this week , then base side dishes and other meals, like breakfast and lunch , on sale items and seasonal produce(which is usually a good indicator of value). In-store brand products are a great value for a delicious and high quality product.
