To Do or Not to Do

A story of a young girl unsure as to whether lie or tell the truth.

She gasped in shock. She never would have even guessed that it was he! She felt guilty; she was unsure what to do, tell her parents the truth or lie. She remembered her pastor of her church said, “Don’t sin, it’s like being over an ocean with a hot air balloon. It’d seem fun, until you get to the top and you’re out of fuel.”

“As small of a choice of that kind may seem, it really does lead to bigger, more critical choices in the end.”

She got home, not sure what to do.

She finally went to bed that night, with this horrible guilt on her shoulders. She tossed onto her side, thinking

“Don’t do it, father might not let us go to art camp over the summer.” She turned again,

“Do it, for father will find out eventually, then your toast.”

She rolled over and gazed at the clock. “11:30” she thought. This guilt is seriously building up in me. She walked over to her door, about to open it, this harsh internal conflict inside her. She opened it, ever so slowly. Strolled over to where her father slept and woke him up.

A year later, they moved out of their old house, into a bigger house, one that was closer to the salt mines; where her fathers’ boss rehired him.

Sometimes in life you have to make the decision as to whether you want to take the left or the right fork in the road. It is one of the toughest decisions you will ever have to make. One quote I always like to remember is “Doing what is right is not always easy, but it is always right.” Sometimes in athletics you can even apply this. It may not be right to lazily walk off the practice field after a practice without doing sprints, but chances are it would be great for you to go out there and do at least one or two sprints to make yourself better.

Life is too short to have to always debate with yourself about things, sometimes it is just plain flat out better to choose a side and stick with the decision, but personally I do not believe in Karma, however, your actions will have consequences later in life or if you made the right choice, results, in which case you should try to remember what good investments of time are and where they lead, as well as where bad investments of time go and where they lead.
