To Smile or to Cry

Work together to weather the current financial storm.

The current financial crises have affected everybody one way or another, no matter where in the world you find yourself. The question is; what are you as an individual going to do about it? You can spend your time complaining about everything you may have lost or all the hardships you may now have to face. Alternatively you can see it as an opportunity to not necessarily start all over, but to rethink your financial strategies and to reevaluate your objectives.

How a person deals with a crisis, particularly if, as in this case, it is not of your own making, goes a long way to determining your strength of character and determination. Those of us, who see the current situation as an opportunity, will emerge from this crisis with a smile on our faces and cash in our pockets, whereas those of us who moan about the situation will continue crying for a long time to come. Which scenario would you rather follow?

Do not deal with ‘what if’ as there is no possible advantage to that line of thinking. We are unable to turn back the clock, no matter how much we may wish we could. Deal with the facts of your current situation. Take stock of what you currently have and ask yourself how you can best apply these resources in order to take advantage of the economic situation. Learn from your past mistakes, but do not dwell on them and beat yourself up about them. I know it seems easy to say be positive while you are struggling to keep your head above water, but this is the best way to achieve a breakthrough.

You may say this is a cliché and you would be right, but believe me it works. It is always darkest just before the dawn. If you keep plugging away at what you believe in, you are probably much closer to success than you realize. If you do not believe me, look at some examples regarding some of the most successful investors of our era. Take Donald Trump and Warren Buffett, both extremely rich men, have both known the agonies of bankruptcy, but did they give up? No!! They just learnt from their mistakes, stood up and started again. This is what many of us must do now. We have been beaten down by events largely beyond our control. Now is the time to stand up and take advantage of the opportunities that the current economic situation presents us with.

These things may be easy to say, but are extremely difficult for most people to do. I agree, but we must focus on what we want to achieve and believe that each one of us has the talent and resources to achieve our goals. Do not think you need to do it alone. The more advice and information we can gather from all over the world, the easier it will be for us to see the solution to our own personal situations.

I propose setting up a worldwide group of ordinary people who are either financially in trouble or have been and have fought their way out of it. Together we may be able to solve each other’s problems. Remember that knowledge is power and enough power can tend to make the impossible distinctly possible.
