Tricks to Break Bad Habits
You can do it. Get it out of your system!

Always follow your heart!
Get “Proactive”
When you’re proactive, you respond to a situation according to your values (or what you hold important). Being reactive means you respond to a situation based on your moods or feelings. Want to be happier, more successful? Strive to be proactive. Say your rival disses you in front of the whole school. Reactive you would snap back and sulk the entire lovely day away. On the other hand, proactive you would stop and consider: Could she be (a) having a bad day? (b) feeling insecure because of me? (c) or were all she said true? Then, act accordingly.
Growing Pains
In Follow Your Heart, Andrew Matthews writes that our mission in life is not to be problem-free, but to get excited about living. Don’t think things are crappy, period, and find an excuse to give up. Think of the crappy stuff as your personal fertilizer–it’s there to challenge you to grow and meet your goals. Now doesn’t that sound exciting?
Future Tense
Does thinking about the future scare you stiff? slow down your paranoid mind for a sec. Stop worrying about the what ifs. The future will come whether or not you obsess about it, and worrying won’t solve anything–real or imagined. The only thing you can do about the future is what you do about it today. Stop wasting your precious time and effort worrying about what might happen. Plan things out, stick to them, and make them happen. Lo and behold, the future shall take care of itself.
