"Getting even" just let's us feel ugly inside. There are lots of kinds of hurt in the world that we cannot prevent; there is no need to add to that hurt. Pain is a device to tell us to stop doing whatever it is we are doing; but I agree, some of it makes no sense whatsoever. Guess that means we don't know everything? I wish it could be easy, but it isn't. Hurt plays a huge role in life. Without hurt, would be similar to being blind. Blindness causes a lack of secure direction. Hurt is a mechanism to learn from. We all heard that touching a hot stove will prevent you from touching it again. Hurt, physically or mentally is supposed to keep us from making the same mistakes over and over.
