Using Logs to Track Your Progress

How can you see if you are making progress if you are not counting your actions?

Getting track of everything you do is a major success factor in your life. With a clear number on the screen you can see what could be different, what could be improved, what could be eliminated from the scenario and the most important thing, how well you are doing.

Let’s say your activity is to make websites. You need to write some code, you need to rent servers, you need to make sites ready for the costumer.

Now how can you make a log of your progress? You need to log the time you spend in those activities, plus the time it takes for each part, and the cost for each part and only then you can make smart decisions based on those numbers.

The first is the number of websites you made so far. The higher this number, the more potential sales you will get. Another one can be the number of costumers you already sold to. Another one could be the number of returning costumers. And you can add some more logs. The most important thing is that you keep everything written down. Things only in your mind are just not enough. Everything, even the minor details must be written down. Think of a computer game. All the data and numbers are there, written down and easily reachable. Be like a computer game.

One way to make progress in log writing is making computer games. The logic you will need to implement is almost the same (write, read, save) you need to keep a tracking log.

Do not forget that a log is only good as the way to get the information back without getting lost in the sea!

Last but not least, you must not spend too much time with the log.

The fantastic thing about the Logs is that they tell you the truth even if you do not like to hear it. The truth will set you free and allows you to improve yourself. Once you learn how to love logs, numbers and truth, your whole life especially in the success area will change for good.
