Value of Effective Oral Communication
One of the key factors of standing out of the crowd is the ability to speak well.
With the increasing population, advent of globalization due to the vast technological advances in telecommunication and increasing competition in all formal job sectors, one can very easily become unheard in a crowd if he/she does not know or apply the principles of good oral communication. You might be smart, intelligent, intuitive etc. but these are all internal qualities which can only be expressed in two ways on paper or orally.
Effective oral communication has become a very important tool of the corporate world. It is the means through which one can attract the attention of other people towards his/her ideas and the skill of making people listen to you is taken heavily into account by prospective employers. By means of communicating well you can express your own thoughts or ideas in a way which can be easily interpreted by others and the listeners also become more receptive to you. Good oral communication can also help in breaking the first conversation jitters that can occur. Effective communication is widely regarded as the hallmark of many great leaders who would inspire their people through good oration. Leaders like M.A. Jinnah (Quaid-e-Azam), Gandhi, Mao and even controversial ones like Hitler had excellent communicative skills.
Not everyone can be a leader but they can improve their communication deficiencies through using certain methods. First method is to have good command over the required language as delivery and vocabulary are key elements in speaking. Second thing is to customize your speech pattern according to your own personality and dialect because if everyone talked in the same manner then would kill human uniqueness. Last but not the least is self confidence. Very simply put if you are not comfortable with yourself, how can you make other people comfortable with your ideas? Hence speak well, live well.
