Wasting Time While Working and How to Stop Some Time Wasters

by Redburn in Advice, November 3, 2009

Timing your work is a must when your income depends on it. It’s easy to become lazy and slow down just to find out later that your business is not as profitable as it should be if you worked a little faster. For example, how long do you spend checking your email?

You should spend no time here. Most emails will give you an alert once new mail arrives. I used to check the mail just once or twice per day, now however I handle all the mail instantly, it’s much better than to be stressed about putting important business on hold. Another reason for responding to email demands in real time is to look professional. When a business is down or almost out of business, the mails almost get no reply. If you handle all your mail instantly it’s a sign your business is going very good and that you are super professional on what you do.

The next activity you waste too much time is the search. It’s easy to become addicted to search and soon there will be the Search Anonymous organizations telling you to stop search. With a small box you can search the entire world for any kind of information. If you do not know very clearly what you need and ONLY what you need, it’s a vast sea of information burning your time like a car burns gas.

Computer maintenance is another activity that requires a lot of time from you. Computer maintenance should be 100% automatic, and if not you’d better start using online applications such as Zoho to avoid wasting time installing and upgrading your system.
