Ways to Spot a Liar

Did you know that there are different types of liars? Here’s a list of the different types of liars.

As you know, a liar is someone who is deceitful and dishonest.  We all know someone who is a liar.  I found some ways to spot a liar that I wanted to share with you all.

Here are the ways to spot a liar:

The no-discovery liars

This is the type of liar who thinks they will never be caught in their lies.  They have a smugness about them as if they can carry on with their lies.  I know a man who is constantly riding people in his wife’s car, but he lies about it.  He takes for granted that she won’t notice that her passenger seat looks different or that the mileage is different.

The audacious liars

This is the type of liar who knows that they are lying and you know they’re lying, but no one says anything.  An example of this type of liar can be seen above because the wife doesn’t confront the husband about taking her car and riding people in it.

The believers

These liars pretend that their lies are the truth so they lie and start believing it themselves.  These are probably the people in movies who are crazy enough that they can beat lie detectors.

The Paul Bunyan liars

Their stories are tall tales and they change every time they tell it.  An example of this is that they can never tell the same story twice because they are always adding something different.

The omit liars

These liars chose to omit important pieces of information of they conveniently forget.  I was guilty of this type of lie.  I did this when I wanted to stay out of trouble. LOL!

The victim liars

These liars always have an excuse as to what someone did to them.  Everything is always someone else’s fault.  I think this one is self-explanatory.

The “Oh, man” liars

When someone starts a sentence with “Oh, man”, it’s usually a lie.  An example of this is “Oh, man, I was just about to call you.”

lol The “oh man ” liar is funny one. I don’t mind if people tell little lies once in a while but if the lies are frequent then it becomes more than annoying; it becomes a problem.

Interesting – I’m very much interested in this subject because I want to know how to tell when someone is lying… I’ve never been good at this.

    Blessings.

    Sincerely,

    -Liane Schmidt.

You’re right, Morgana. I also don’t mind the little lies. I do that sometimes too. I don’t like when people continue to lie.

I wasn’t able to tell certain lies either, Liane. That’s why I was curious to find out what the different liars were and I thought others might have been interested too. :)

How about the politicians who promise everything before the elections and “forget” those promises once the elections are over?

    Dear Sis,
Very intersting reading I have a sister in law that could fit into all them categories. I deal with liars on a daily basis and I have to tell you it is physically and mentally draining. As a rule all humans lie every day. It’s whether there harmless to people or not.
Also Oh Man is used a lot here in Australia as part of our slang so when you come visit me here in Australia not every Australian you meet is a liar it’s our language. lol. I even use the expression Oh Man myself. For eg, Like when I am watching a news update that is terrible news I go Oh Man. Or hear terrible news Oh Man. You would love Australia hon you would be so confused.
Love your versatile writing hon, love it! Your writing is always different and fresh.
    Love Shelley.

LOL Shelley! I know a couple of people that could fit all of the categories too. I probably would be confused if everyone uses “Oh man” a lot. I would never know if I was being lied to or not. :)

I must have let this one get by me. sorry about that. You do learn to know a lair after you hear them tell a few.then if they do tell you the truth you can’t trust that it is.

That’s okay. Thanks for checking out my article, Ruby. I agree that you can learn their tricks once they lie to you constantly. That would make it hard to know when they tell the truth if they spend so much time lying.

I really like the way you organize your articles. With each point as a headline and more description below. People get the overall idea by just reading the larger text. If they’re interested, they can then go below. Very smart.

And about the article itself… Very well written, with lots of variety and description.

Haha, this really made me laugh and I must admit, I do know at least one person out of each of these groups! This just makes it easier to spot a liar! Really good article with a tinge of hilarity. Briliant!
