In our fast pace society, everything is changing day by day. It is easy for parent to get stress up. We may find it hard to discipline our children when they are out of control.
Before we try to discipline our children, we need to pause and reflect. We may ask ourselves what makes me so stressful. We try to find out the reason behind. It may be because of heavy workload, not enough rest, your expectation on yourself as a parent, your expectation of your child.
Once we find out that we are overstress, we recognise our feeling and find ways to help us. It is good to talk to your spouse about your feelings and get support. It will be helpful to talk to your friends who have gone through similar experience and cope well. You may choose to journaling your feelings and thoughts. Sometimes, exercise will be helpful for us to regain our energy and it helps us cope better with the stress. Some people will go out for a walk or listen to some soothing music. When you try your ways and find it hard to cope, it is the time to look for professional help for example counselor or social worker.
When we are aware of we need help at times, we tap on resources that help us to become a better parent. For instance, the parenting workshop will be helpful to equip us with the knowledge and skills to become a better parent to guide the behaviour and attitude of children. We need to find the parenting course that has the similar value and ideology with you. In the parenting course, we will be able to learn how to plan for the best strategies and take action. Then, we take action and evaluate our parenting goals and strategies.
It is important for parent to take good care of themselves physically, emotionally and mentally first so that they can take good care of our children.
