When Words are More Powerful Than Swords
10 steps to take to make your world more peaceful and fulfilling.
The world needs to get beyond war. The big question is: How? With this article I will attempt to explain what needs to be done to get the world back into balance.
- Each individual needs to start thinking like a business owner/manager. Stop what
you are doing long enough to see what assets you have (not just money), what
liabilities you have, and where you will be 5 years from now if you keep doing
what you are doing now.
- Make it a point to read a book that is uplifting for at least 2 hours each day.
- Make a commitment to walk (more if you are able) at least 2 hours each day. It
can include housework, office trips, tread mills, and just remember if you cheat you
are only cheating yourself.
- Make a list of the top 12 people who support you, believe in you, and love you, like
you, and inspire you. In short, the most positive influences in your life. Call or
email each of them at least once per week.
- Determine what day of the week you want to set 2 hours for assessment. You need
to make sure that this is realistic because it will become more important as it
becomes a habit. In this 2 hour time frame you will look at your goals and see how
well you have done and where you need improvement. NOTE: If you are doing
everything right you will never be perfect at reaching your goals. If you are perfect
you are either not being honest or setting the goals too low. Setting them too high
is not any better because that will frustrate you and you will quit.
- Set goals. Daily, weekly, monthly, short term, long term, individual, community,
family, etc. Be creative. Set at least one goal each week that has to do with what
you really want from life. Who are you? What does your world think of you?
What do YOU think of you? Remember that only you are responsible for your
happiness. You can’t make someone else happy and it is unfair to make someone
responsible for your happiness.
- Develop your spiritual assets. You do not need a religion to do this. If you are
happy with a religion, use it to help with your journey. Remember that religion is a
community activity more than an individual activity. Looking inside and getting
in touch with what we believe in is spiritual development. As far as I am, concerned
there is no right or wrong religion. If it works for you do it. If it does not work for
you, change it.
- Learn to invest and keep track of what and how you invest during your assessment
period. Invest? I don’t have enough money to pay the bills now and you are talking
about investing! Did I say anything about money? Time, talent, advice….Do these
not count as an investment. This will take longer for those of you who are addicted
to thinking of money as your value and security.
- Think about getting a partner, or several, to help you stay on track with your
personal project. Yes, what all this adds up to is a project just like a business or
a government plans in order to get something done. YOU are business. YOU are
government. The consumer is the most powerful person in the whole world
economy.
- Don’t quit. You can buy all the self-help books, DVDs, etc. and none will do you
any good if you quit. Those managers you face at work are paid to remind you of
the goals your company has set for you. You are constantly told what you need to
do at work….to help the company achieve it’s goal. Are YOUR goals worth less
than the goals of your employer? Remember! Do NOT base your worth on money
and material stuff.
Follow your heart and find your purpose. You have the most influence on you.
