Why Long-term Thinking is Essential to Your Success
If your dream is to be successful in life and love, it is important to always be thinking long-term in the back of your mind.

If your dream is to be successful your career, love and in just about anything in life, it is important to always be thinking long-term in the back of your mind. When you think long-term (i.e., how will this decision today affect my life down the line tomorrow), you are setting yourself up for a smart, strategic and successful life.
For example, if you would like to have children, you must find out early if the person you are dating is planning on having children as well. It is important. It is not something that needs to be asked on the first date, but it is something that needs to be an important part of the beginning dialogue with your significant other.
Many people allow the “honeymoon” phase to cloud their vision or fear to hinder them from asking the questions that they need answered to live the life of their dreamst; the life that they know will make them happiest. Do not settle. You deserve the life of your dreams, but you have to make it happen for yourself. You cannot expect other people to read your mind. You need to have a clear picture, vision, and the courage to ask for the life of your dreams.
If a person no longer wishes to date you because of your values, that is okay. You would not have worked out with him or her in the long run anyway and it saves you both valuable time and emotional distress. Think long-term effects.
When it comes to business think about where you see yourself in five years. Do you see yourself settled down with a family? Do you see yourself in a company that allows you to move up the ladder? Are you looking to buy a home? Where do you would you like to live? All these questions are very important to the decisions you make today.
While nothing is ever set in stone, you can change your mind about a job or find that your department is being relocated, but at least you have formed in your mind a clearer picture of what type of life would make you happiest. Maybe you would like to be able to set your own hours? There are many options available, but you must know yourself well enough to know when to stay with something and when to get out.
