Wishing Life Away

Life is too short, to rush it, but we all do. We do it when we wish for Friday, not taking the time to be grateful for today.

Every week comes and goes, and we always say, I can’t wait until Friday! Why?

To have down time, to sleep a little later, to hang out; why is it that we are wishing each week away, one week at a time. We all need to be grateful for each day that we are able to wake up, and go about our business, each day is a given gift, and should never be taken for granted. Get up tomorrow morning and be happy that you were given a new day, to spend with family and friends, another day to be alive.

I use to say Oh, I can’t wait until Friday, until I realized that each day I was living, I was waiting for the next Friday, and before I knew it, the year was over. I started seeing that time was flying by, and I was not appreciating any part of it, and if I was I did not even notice. Days ran into weeks, weeks ran into months, and months into years; it hit me when I realized that years ran into decades, that is when I stopped! I stopped to smell the rose, I stopped to give my kids another hug, and I stopped and appreciated everything I had, good and bad. I started living for today. What I stopped doing was wishing my life away, I don’t care if it is Wednesday or Friday; Sunday or Tuesday I have been give a day to enjoy, and I will!

So as hard as it is, I get out of bed, usually tired, and I go about my day, when given the opportunity I smell the roses, and take in the beauty, of the trees, and flowers; or I look and marvel at the carefree children playing in the park, without a worry in the world.

Life has its ups and downs, and even those we should acknowledge, because it means that we have things going on in our lives, the good makes us happy, the downs usually make us sad; but my belief is, if everything was always good, we would not appreciate the birth of a new baby, or the graduations and weddings. All these things help to keep life balanced; it all gives us something to look forward to. These are the things that create memories, for our tomorrow, with stories and photos, to make us laugh, thus we reminisce, about those days.

So don’t tread Monday mornings, it’s a new day, a new week, go forth and enjoy, for we only have so many days, before its our turn to leave this life, don’t wish it away.
