You Too Can be Happy
Happiness is within reach; all you have to do is get in touch with it and experience it.
Happiness is actually what you make it; it doesn’t always depend on what happens on the outside but on our attitude to what happens.
Look at it this way, there are happy rich, educated, famous people and there are also unhappy rich, educated, famous people. This shows that it is really not what happens to us or what have acquired or achieved but how we respond to it on the inside.
Happiness doesn’t just hit us; it is what we decide to be and as we all know that action always precede feeling. If I wake up deciding to be happy and I get around acting (being) happy then I will remain happy no matter what happens.
The challenge here is that people don’t know how to be happy. Happiness or any other feeling for that matter is a product of our thought, for instant if you start thinking of how lousy someone is, you will see yourself getting angry and upset when you see the person, but if you think good thought about someone, you are at ease with the person when you see.
Happiness therefore boils down to how we perceive things and situations. It can be likened to the popular ‘half empty/half full glass’ analogy; where a glass of water is seen as half empty by some people and half full by others.
Hence different people exposed to the same situation will feel differently about it, some maybe happy while others may not be.
Happiness is therefore not a consequence of the situation but a consequence of personal choice and action.
What is that situation or thing that makes you so unhappy and sets you on a pursuit of happiness? Well the pursuit is good but know that it is not what you go after on the outside but what you dig out from the outside.
Let dig out happiness right away, look at that challenging situation, note all the positive things about it and focus your thoughts on them, anytime that situation come to you mind shift your focus to the positive.
I know it is possible not to see anything positive about that situation now, give it a little time and think again when you are more relaxed, you will see them pop up.
In the rare case where there is nothing positive about the situation, then tell yourself “I have decided to be happy about this situation’ keep telling that to yourself anytime the situation comes to mind. Smile and act happy and that happy feeling will follow.
Another important thing to note is that gratitude increases happiness so be grateful for the thing you have acquired and done it will increase you ‘happiness level’
