When Obama declared war on religions, where were they? When Obama was taking trips, playing golf, and eating one hundred dollar a pound steaks, where were they?  when the national debt was raised four trillion in the last three years, with a promise of another nine trillion in the next ten, where are they?  When Obama decided to throw Israel under the bus, where were they? When Obama is fighting three wars, and nothing is heard from the left, and yet, Bush fights a single war, here they go again. when Obama is a regular on the View, Leno, and other television projects, while jobs are lost, where are these leftist socialist radicals? When the oil pipeline was stopped dead in its tracks by this administration, where are they? When this administration defends the likes of a destructive Wall Street mob, and fight against peaceful Tea Parties, we must ask “what is going on here.” This list goes on, and on?  They defend their own till the end no matter how bad things get, and yet, the mention of a republican causes them to be outraged.  Is this any kind of plan for America?

The uprising ended with the capture of many workers, Luxembourg and Liebknecht, who were executed later.

The reasons that they failed were that they did not have the military power to beat the German Army who were loyal to Ebert. Also there was something called the “Red Plague”. It was propaganda that was designed to make Communism seem like a really terrifying thing and since not many people knew what it was really like in Russia at that time, they believed it. Furthermore the simple fact that Ebert was not in Berlin meant that is was harder to overthrow the government because they could not kill him, so even if they did “overthrow” him, he could start an uprising himself.

In 1920, right wing politician Wolfgang Kapp started his own Putsch. He did not think that the workers were working too hard, however he blamed Ebert and his Social Democrats for signing the Treaty of Versailles in 1918, which not only humiliated Germany but also lost much of its colonies and land which wasn’t many, as they started late in colonising compared to Britain etc. Many other people in the government supported him and most notably the Army and the Freikorps including Generals Ludendorff and Luddwitz. They most likely supported him because they felt frustrated that the German army had to reduce its size to only 100,000 men, inadequate to defend themselves.

The putsch also did not last very long, but the putsch like the Spartacists uprising managed to force Ebert out of Berlin. Even though that most of the army was still loyal to Ebert he could not be sure of the support therefore he had to find another way to deal with the putsch. So Ebert called for the public in a general strike which was successful as it made the putsch unfeasible.

The putsch failed as although some Generals supported Kapp, the majority still remained loyal to Ebert, meaning that they still did not have the military strength needed to take Berlin. The general strike showed that the people that Kapp was trying to rule did not support him making it impossible to take over completely. Furthermore, as mentioned above Ebert still fled Berlin, so he was able to survive and command effectively. However Ebert leant the following things: Support from the army could not be taken for granted; not universal support for the Weimar Republic and that there were limited means of dealing with an uprising.

The Spartacists had the support of the people and ultimately, that what you need, even more than the support of the army to form an efficient government. For example, if we go into hypothetical history and say that Kapp managed to overthrow Ebert and that control, it would be inevitable that he would be overthrown as well because the people and most of the army supported Ebert.
