16 Year Old Girl Shot in the Head
Gun and knife crime are on the rise in the UK and it does not look like it is slowing down, a 16 year old girl was the latest victim of gun crime in the UK adding to the growing number of youngsters falling victim to violent crime.
A 16 year old girl has been shot in the head, the young girl has been taken to hospital where her condition is said to be critical. Police were called to an address in Ashover Avenue in Greater Manchester this morning the 14th June 2008. The girl who has not been named suffered a gunshot wound to the head and police and ambulance services were immediately called to the scene.
The police are treating the incident as an isolated incident and have stated that they will still be keeping a close eye on the area in the interest of the other residents. A 19 year old man has been taken into custody for questioning
Superintendent Simon Barraclough, of GMP’s South Manchester division, said: “I would like anyone that witnessed the incident or who knows anything about what happened to contact us.
“This would appear to be an isolated incident, however there will be extra patrols in the area to reassure residents.”
This adds to the growing number of youngsters who have fallen victim to gun violence in the UK this year. The police are appealing for witnesses to come forward and the investigation is ongoing.

It seems more and more youngsters are involved in killings these days, or we hear more about it more than in former years.

Ruby is right too many young people are killed before they can even start their lives. Is this a sad sign of our times?

yes it is no doubt a sad sign of the times, in the UK it is happening on a weekly basis just two weeks ago a young 15 year old girl was stabbed to death in her own apartment building. I dont know what is going on but it needs to be dealt with it is getting out of hand.

Teen violence is rising everywhere. It’s so sad that as the days and years progress it just gets worse. Violence is not what kids have in mind when they are at their most vulnerable stages, and neither is racism. It’s sad to place the blame at the parents, but we must all admit that our children turn to violence when that is all they become accustomed to. With bullies, child molestation and non-involved parents. Protection for oneself and thy possession becomes part of the norm, and with ignorance and not following up on your children’s whereabouts, or who they socialize with comes consequences. All in all my prayers are with them at this moment and I do hope this young girl has a speedy and eventful recovery.
