“Alcatraz” of FOX: “Lost” in Prison

After disappointing the viewers with the last season finale of "Lost" creator JJ Abrams is asking for another chance. The new series he created – "Alcatraz", is been not a bad compensation, mainly because the script filled with puzzles and a very invested production.

Why does JJ Abrams manage to fascinate so many viewers who were disappointed for him at the end of last season’s “Lost”? How can he win so much trust again?

Here he does it again in the new series “Alcatraz,” which aired on Tuesday in the United States. The plot of the series focuses on the maximum-security prison closed in 1963 following the high maintenance costs. All prisoners were transferred from prison. Or at least that’s what the viewers think.

In Abrams version the prisoners simply disappeared one day. Those 302 prisoners and staff begin to emerge noadays, when they’re not aged even a day. It is not that they just come back, some one is responsible. Who? We will probably have to watch closely.

This is precisely the reason Abrams series are addictive. Activating the viewers minds, added to plenty of action and visually advanced packaging, creating a fun delicacy which  is better to eat cold.

Just do not let it end badly!

Yet the trauma of “Lost” is still persists. Abrams also did not bother to cover it. It is not easy to hear the word “island” at a time that the prison is mentioned. It is also not simple to see Hugo (Jorge Garcia indicated) without having to raise painful memories and it can not be easy to live with the fear that the end will be similar.
“Alcatraz”. Disappointing like “Lost”? (Pictures from Fox).
This time, Abrams seems more cautious. Aside from the fact that “Fox” network demanded to be updated with all the details to avoid further frustration viewers, it seems that now he is trying to be more realistic. As can be seems in the script. It is also evident in the construction of moderate expectations.

“Alcatraz” can easily become the new hot serial in the American winter. It can also capture a significant crowd of fans who will chase every scrap of information, try to connect all the parts, decipher numbers and suggestions and would require another season and another. If this time the end time will be disappointing, this may be Abrams final trick. But if the crowd will get a grand finale – it seems this serial can be a guaranteed decent compensation.
