An Open and Closed Case
At the murder trial… he wanted to know what went wrong?
The murder case went on for so long,
it was clearly one for the ages,
as the trial started in several different stages,
the case was weak when he thought it was strong,
and he realized that when the defense attorney
looked approvingly at the jury,
he knew something was wrong,
his heart instantly filled with fury,
he thought it crazy when the State would rest,
that brought on a state of high stress,
but he knew he had the right man,
and the justice system was his last stand,
what damaged his credibility,
and why did he fail,
it was an open and closed case
just waiting for the final nail,
it was a capital crime way beyond jail-time,
it was up to the witnesses,
and none seemed fake,
there could be no mistake
during the critical moment,
maybe it was the behavior patterns,
uncooperative, too cooperative,
some were out of touch,
some talked too little,
while others talked too much,
some would show hate,
others would show fear,
some got their story perfectly straight,
while others would just stare,
some talked without thinking,
some avoided eye contact,
but kept continuously blinking,
suddenly the air got thin,
when the not-guilty verdict came in.
Liked it
