Beware the Predatory Night Rider
What is it that makes one a predatory night rider choice target for attack? Is it our appearance or the kind of car we drive? Get into the psyche of these rogue riders and learn what you can do to avoid them.

WHO DO THEY PREY ON? Predatory night rider typically attack those who are alone, or few in numbers at the roadside, bus stops, on highways or at petrol stations intermediate to midnight and the early morning hours.
DOES YOUR APPEARANCE OR YOUR CAR MATTER? These predators do not choose their victims. So unless the boys want to hijack your car, they usually will not pay attention to what you are driving. Which means, anyone in any car is a potential target when opportunity presents itself?
What you can do to protect yourself:
1. Adopt a habit of always being aware of your surroundings. Lock your car from the moment you enter until you exit it at home.
2. Never Place your handbag on the passenger seat where it’s visible to all. This gives thieve an opportunity to smash your window and grab it.
3. Should your job requires you to go home at night, disguise yourself to look like a boy with a baseball cap and men’s jacket and avoid travelling home using lonely roads.
4. If you are at the traffic lights and suddenly you are surrounded by the predatory night rider, call the emergency number (set it on speed dial), switch to speaker mode (so you have both hands to drive) and start shooting details of them and your location. Look for opportunities to escape before they get a chance to steal or hurt you.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Still, some take advantage of any opportunity to create havoc and fear. Sadly, many get away with it.

I guess night riders are what we call in the UK, car-jackers. Our car-jackers attack any time of the day or night.

Good insights.
From experience no doubt.
Being a bit petty: need to re-edit a few bits but sound advice.

This is some good information. The tips are very practical and could help to save someone’s life. I am supposing that George’s comment above that ‘night riders’ are the equivalent of ‘car jackers’ in the US is correct. If these are the equivalents then in the US most law enforcement recommends that you surrender your car to minimize the possibility of bodily harm.
