Can’t Do the Time, Don’t Do the Crime

Just a quick note on teenagers and how they react to violence, and why they could become violent.

Are video games really what could be causing today’s clash in violence? You hear about kids shooting people, kniving people at school. What is the leading cause to this disaster? Is it a choice? (all of it’s choice), but can it merely be a matter of home life? Gangs? Drugs? Sex? Movies? Mental disabilities? Possibly even the news? Well, I will tell you what. All of these things cause this.

Kids always have a choice, it just depends on how they use that choice. Whether they use it to the best of their knowledge, to get a college degree, become someone famous, or even save a life.

Some kids seem to not always choose their options wisely. Some steal for money, maybe to help a family member, buy drugs, or other illegal things. Some kids come from broken homes; little money, no authority, no love, little food. Things that would require them to think on their own, and give them the ability to fend for themselves. Some kids choose the wrong friends. They get brought into gangs, start doing drugs, carrying guns and knives, and stealing.

What is really going through these kid’s minds? Who is to really blame? The television, parents, friends? Society today has a big impact on how kids live their lives. It doesn’t matter what race, religion, sexuality preference you are, it affects you.

How do you know what’s going through a young teenager’s mind when they walk into school everyday with a sour look on their face, dress in the same clothes? You don’t. How do you know what’s going through their minds when they bring a gun to school or a knife and start stabbing or shooting people? You don’t. Everybody seems to want to figure out what causes someone to act in violent ways like they do.

This might be something we will never know, but we can always think about it, and try to figure out a solution to stop all the violence in today’s world.
