Children in Darkness
Child, Alone, Late, Dark, Highway… Where is your child tonight?

You know, when we think about our children, how many parents now days, really keep track of where their children are, who they are out with, and what they are doing?
I was very much surprised while driving home on the freeway late one evening after work. I could not believe my eyes. I was coming down the freeway, then all of a sudden I seen a highway patrol car on the right side of the road and then a regular car in front of him. I knew I was speeding about 10 miles per hour over, so I figured I should slow down as many there were more out there. I slowed down a bit, and I looked quickly and seen another highway patrol parked in front of the regular car on side of freeway also. And as I glanced, I had to look twice to make sure what I thought I seen was correct.
It was a little boy on a bicycle. Yes, a little boy on a bicycle on the side of the freeway. He looked no older then like 8-10 years old. He had no helmet on, a little tiny bike, and a very light windbreaker type jacket on. And what made this worse was it was about 10:30 PM at night. My God, why would that little boy be out alone this late? And riding alone with his bike on the side of the freeway, and where the hell were his parents?
I was in shock the rest of the way home. I wanted to just get out and find those parents myself, and punch them right in the nose. How dare they leave a child alone so late, and how could they not know where he is. Where they out searching for him, were they asleep? Did they even know he was gone? The thought just bugged me and made me more and more mad each minute that I continued to think of it.
I had figured that the car I seen sitting between that two police cars, most likely, they thankfully seen the little boy on the side of the road, and they pulled over to call the police and stayed there with him tell them arrived. I mean, what if they had been really bad, and decided to take the child, no one would of known, what if he had been hit by a car, there are so many bad thoughts that go through my head when I think of this, and I just want to reach out to those parents and shake them.

Good article,I agree.I for one am a single mom and no matter how hard it get’s I have always manage a sitter with no help from family. On occasion have even lost a couple of jobs because a sitter didn’t show. Some people wouldn’t do that, they would just leave them, but my children have always been my first concern,
I guess that’s the difference. Thank goodness for people like you.

Yes, it saddens me to know that there are some out there who do these things with their children, and seem not to care, and there are others who would treat their children like princes and queens, yet are not able to have any
