Identity theft and fraud scheme are just a few examples of the types of cyber crime that exist. In recent years, a number one threat of the different information and databases face is hackers. Hackers are able to retrieve protected information and destroy different hardware and software on computers.  Hackers are individuals that attack computer security and commit many types of cyber crimes such as theft, fraud, burglary, embezzlement, espionage, and sabotage. There are also cyber crimes and threats hackers use to retrieve patient records, credit card information, and even bank account numbers.

Some of these types of crime occur because of the poor security and safeguards against viruses, hackers, malware, spy-ware, and computer worms. A main way to help prevent these types of crimes is by using updated hardware, software, protection strategies and safeguarding.

Computer Security is a critical component to protect the information against cyber crimes. Viruses can be sent or attached to different music, graphics, programs, and files that may seem harmless but can cause harm to different databases, hardware, and software.

In order to help fight cyber crime, it is important to know about the different types of crimes that exist and ways to restrict or prevent intruders from accessing protected encryption’s.

The first thing to do to help protect against cyber crimes is by creating a risk assessment and analysis of the threats that exist or have occurred. Knowing the problems can help find new protection strategies and physical security against these types of crime.

Safeguards such as passwords, firewalls, logical control, administrative controls, investigations, discretionary access control, and mandatory access control require constant updating and can help to protect against cyber crimes.

Although it may be difficult to completely protect a computer against all threats there are tools such as the cyber-alert system that can help to transmit Internet threat warnings. This can be useful in helping to fight or minimize against the threats and help better protect a computer by showing warnings when a threat is present.
