Crime Stoppers
Article about crime stoppers.
Crime stoppers is an organization that works to apprehend criminals. The Crime stoppers association was started in 1976 by a Detective Greg Macalese from New Mexico when he realized that people needed a way to report crimes without directly being involved with the investigation. Since then, it has grown to many parts of the world, including the UK and Australia. To report a crime, you have to call 416-222-TIPS (8477) or toll free at 1-800-222-8477. You can also text TOR and the information you have on the crime to 274637 (CRIMES), or go on the Crime stoppers website; www.222tips.com, and click on submit a tip to anonymously report a crime. Through the website, you can report a crime anywhere in the world. You can call crime stoppers at any time of the day or night to report a crime; people are always on hand to receive the report. In an interview with Allen Smith, a man who receives reports, he was asked why he worked for Crime stoppers. His response was “I like to do something that directly helps my community. It makes me rest easy at the end of the day.” So, if you witness a crime, call the number on the left, and be a help to your community, be a Crime Stopper!
