Death Row’s Final Night

At 2330 hours, one of the female prisoners who called herself as Dong Gui was playing a Poker witnessing by a police officer. She put the cards one by one on the floor to predict the fortune from the displaying cards. She looked calm.

At 2345 hours, Dong Gui shouted emotionally and kept on complaining the sentence incurred to her was unfair. She turned to the police officer murmuring something, but her voice could not hear at all even at an inch distance near to her. She laughed terribly. The police officer said, “You’ve come to this stage, you have no choice to turn a new leaf but to accept the fact of death. The Supreme Court had reviewed on your cases and the decision had been made. Don’t think too much!”

Dong Gui smiled again, waving her fragile hands, and she said in a low tone, “You’re all good people as you care much of me. I’ll bless you when I reach there….” Then, she laughed hilariously in alternate with a sharp strange scream.

The following day at 0020 hours, He Xiuling was instructed to try on new clothes.
At 0400 hours, Dong Gui was awakened in a sudden fear. She had a nightmare and could not get herself sleep well. He Xiuling did not sleep, but she kept on writing the final note until the early morning of three. Ma Qingxiu just got herself sleeping for two hours; she then could not sleep anymore thinking of the cruelness of death.

At 0530 hours, Dong Gui was instructed to put on new clothes. She kept on staring herself from the head to toes with this new clothes put on in front of the mirror. The rooms to where He Xiuling and Ma Qingxiu in were still locked outside.

At 0630 hours, one of the prisoners served He Xiuling and Ma Qingxiu with delicious beef noodle. However, they just stared at the noodle without any appetites to eat. They seemed like paying no interest at the passing prisoners and police officers in front of them. The police officers and some of their companions comforted them to eat. He Xiuling took out his unfinished McDonald that she kept below the pillow yesterday night to have some bites on. Ma Qingxiu said the noodle was too spicy and the police officer asked another prisoner to change for the other bowl.

Li Juhua felt no appetite to eat at all. She denied to be served. She stretched her hands out by looking at her fingernails. Then, she painted her fingernails with a red color.

At 0630 hours, Li Juhua, with the assistance of a police officer and few of her companions, had her fingers completely painted with red color. They also aided her to put on her favorite lipstick.
A pre-sentenced Dong Gui could not help herself tidying up her clothes. This 41-year-old Dong Gui was caught for trafficking 37.5 kg of illegal drugs.

Ma Qingxiu put herself on red clothes. She told He Xiuling that she had tried on seven clothes before her death.

At 0700 hours, He Xiuling understood that she would never see this world anymore as the time had made her feeling closer to death. She could not bear on crying. No more laugh for her. She never wanted to force herself laughing anymore as she thought it would be pointless for her to do so. When asking, if she would have given another chance, what she would do at the most, she answered promptly, “I’ll never get myself involved in such crime!” She further added, “It’s all because of my greediness to desire to become rich faster…..I was too indulged with the blind feeling to somebody….” She had her eyes full with tears, and she cried in tears to say, “Pardon me, mum and dad!”
At 0650hours, He Xiuling had herself put on black clothes.
At 0700hours, a judge arrived at the scene. The atmosphere suddenly became solemn.

At 0710hours, a police officer stood in front of the jail. Ten female police officers arranged in a row to be ready to send these four prisoners off. He Xiuling, Ma Qingxiu, Dong Gui and Li Juhua were being accompanied to the sentenced hall. Four of them suppressed their sadness, walking out with extremely strange expressions. They neither talked nor laughed. Then, they thanked the police officers there for taking care of them.

At 0725hours, a team of patrol cars gradually departed the detention center. The cars were heading towards the sentenced hall. These four prisoners were then ended their lives there.
